Nolan Dahm

Public Historian — Charlotte, NC

I bring Charlotte's past to life through exhibits, programming, and storytelling. As Exhibits Manager at the Charlotte Museum of History, I lead the museum's historical interpretation — from the 1774 Homesite to the restoration of a 1920s Rosenwald-era schoolhouse. I'm also the founder of QC History, a digital project making Charlotte's past searchable, mappable, and public.

My work focuses on the history of the Charlotte–Mecklenburg region, the history of slavery and the American South, environmental history, and the history of education. Originally from Des Moines, Iowa — and a die-hard Iowa Hawkeye and Charlotte Hornets fan — I moved to North Carolina in 2015.
